ChildreN’s WORK

The Floating Message

Liam loved playing by the beach near his house. One sunny afternoon, while searching for seashells, he saw something bobbing in the water. It was a glass bottle with a rolled-up paper inside! Excited, he waded into the waves and carefully pulled it out.

He sat on the sand and opened the bottle. The paper inside was slightly damp but still readable. It said:

"Hello! My name is Mia. I live on a small island far away. If you find this, please write back!"

Liam couldn’t believe it! Someone from another place had sent this message across the sea. He quickly ran home to tell his mother.

With her help, he wrote a letter back to Mia, telling her about his town, his school, and his favorite things. He carefully placed it in the same bottle and sealed it tightly. Then, the next day, he tossed it back into the waves, hoping it would reach her.

Weeks passed, and Liam almost forgot about the message. But one morning, as he played on the shore, he saw another bottle floating toward him. He grabbed it and smiled—it was from Mia!

From that day on, they became ocean friends, writing letters and sending them in bottles, letting the sea carry their words across the world.

In the picture, the children used gel clings to decorate the bottles before inserting a short paragraph in each bottle.
